This site explains the rules that shape everyday life and work in Korea — labor law, housing leases, health insurance, pensions, taxes, visas, and driving — for people who read English and need the actual rule, not a rumor.

I am Yewon Kim. I am Korean, I live in Korea, and I am not a lawyer. What I do is read the official Korean text of each rule, compare it with the government's English translation, and write down what it says, when it took effect, and where you can check it yourself.

How every article is made

Primary sources only. Every rule is cited to the Korean statute or decree on the National Law Information Center (law.go.kr), with the article number and the enforcement date. Government notices and official forms are linked to their original page.
The Korean text is the reference. Official English translations of Korean laws are often one or more amendments behind. When the English version is out of date, the article says so and summarizes what changed.
Dates are shown. Each article shows the enforcement date of the rule it describes and the date I last checked it. When a law is amended, the article is updated and the change is logged at the bottom.
Written with AI assistance, checked by a person. First drafts are produced with AI drafting tools. Before anything is published, I (Yewon Kim) verify every citation, number, and date against the Korean source on law.go.kr and edit the text. Nothing is published unread.
